Everyone wants a clean kitchen, but figuring out how to get (and keep) one can be a little overwhelming. This week we’re going to tackle the kitchen step by step. If you missed last week’s post, head over and create your Spring Cleaning Action Plan first!
Kitchen Kick-Off
Bring in 1 container suitable for paper items, writing utensils, Officy type stuff (Mail, Coupons… Any paper item think you need to keep) & 1 Container for all the items that get dumped in the kitchen but DO NOT belong there (Kids harmonica, shoe strings, tire gage).
Have your recycling & trash bin handy.
Grab all your homemade cleaners, gloves, broom, mop, sponges/rags, and other cleaning supplies.
Wash all dishes and put away.
Food Storage
Make sure all cabinets (check food dates) and drawers are organized and wiped clean (don’t forget the silverware drawer… mystery crumbs gather here). I use these Ikea Containers & OXO Container Set to keep the cupboards tidy and these cute Chalkboard Stickers to make everything easy to identify.
Empty fridge & freezer of all things out dated and fuzzy.
Clean all surfaces.
Replace & organize all goodies.
Appliances
Decrumb the toaster, clean the coffeepot, microwave, and other other small appliances.
Scrub down range top, oven, and racks. ( Now when you bake cookies , it won’t smell like pizza)
The Home Stretch
Wipe down walls, any windows, and light fixtures.
Clean kitchen trash can Sweep and Mop floor.
Now grab that tub of Ben & Jerry’s you hid behind the lima beans and a spoon.
Done.
