Smoked Sausage Cajun Pasta Recipe

Do you enjoy a good pasta dish? If so, I have one I think you will love. It is a Smoked Sausage Cajun Pasta Recipe! It is pretty easy to make too.

The only supplies other than ingredients is a large pot and a sauce pot. If you are not a fan of sausage, you could use chicken in its place.

Smoked Sausage Cajun Pasta Recipe

Ingredients

  • 16 oz smoked sausage any brand, sliced
  • 16 oz penne pasta
  • 2 tbs. olive oil
  • 1 1/2 C. whole milk if using skim milk, add 1-2 tbs of flour
  • 6 tbs. butter
  • 1 bunch of green onions chopped
  • 1 tbs. minced garlic
  • 2-3 tsp cajun seasoning

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the 16 oz of penne pasta. Cook on a rolling boil for about 10-12 minutes or until al dente. Remove from heat, drain and rinse with cool water. Set aside.
  2. In the same pot you cooked the pasta, add in the olive oil, garlic and green onions and sliced smoked sausage - cook on medium heat 10-15 minutes allowing the sausage to brown.
  3. In a separate saucepan, heat the milk and butter on medium heat (if using skim milk, add in 1-2 tbs of flour to the milk and butter mixture). Stir every few minutes until the sauce has thickened. Add in the 2 tsp of cajun seasoning.
  4. Add the cream sauce the to the sausage mixture and then add in the cooked penne pasta.
  5. Allow all the ingredients to heat through.
  6. Serve with garlic bread or a salad on the side.
