Love the taste of McDonald’s Shamrock Shakes, but want to avoid the drive-thru? Try this copycat Shamrock Shake recipe! It makes a tasty St. Patrick’s Day treat!
This copycat recipe for McDonald’s Shamrock Shakes is so easy you’ll wonder why you ever bothered buying them! With only 4 ingredients (5 if you count the whipped cream!) and a couple minutes, you’ll have a great tasting shake without any extra ingredients.
Gather up your ingredients. You’ll need vanilla ice cream, half & half, mint extract, and green food coloring. I like to top with whipped cream and occasionally a cherry too! If you have gone dairy-free, you can sub soy milk and soy ice cream (or coconut milk ice cream) for the half & half and ice cream! Make sure it’s pure MINT extract. Peppermint is very different, but would make a great shake flavor for Christmas.
Throw everything into the blender. If you like your shakes really thick, add a little less half & half. If you prefer it easier to drink through a straw, you can add a little more, but blend it first & then add a little more until it reaches the consistency you (or your children) prefer. This recipe is pretty easy to make in any blender, but I highly recommend the Ninja Blender. They have a few different styles to fit your budget!
Blend until smooth. 4 drops of food coloring seems to work best for me, but if you use another brand, you may need to go with a couple more.
