New Balance Rewards Program at Walgreens

We have heard from a few concerned readers who are just baffled by this new Balance Rewards Program that is going into affect today. So to ease some concerns here is a little bit of information we were able to sort out.

First, nothing is going to change with the Register Rewards. For now, we can count on everything being the same.

One big change though is the sale prices on the items you get will only be applied IF you have a Balance Card. So if something is listed in the ad on sale for $2.00 but it’s regularly $3.49, you will have to pay the $3.49 unless you have a Balance card.

Each time you make a purchase, you will accumulate points which you can then use later towards other purchases. Here is a breakdown of those points:

If you sign up for the Rewards card membership and you do not earn or redeem points for 6 consecutive months, then the membership  will be considered inactive, and you will loose all the points you have accumulated.

Your points however should not expire for about 3 years as long as you keep using you card more often then every 6 months. I don’t understand 100% on how exactly the points will be redeemed. Walgreen’s says that if a member wants to redeem the points, then it will be converted into redemption dollars that will be deducted from your purchase, but I’m not sure how you go about requesting a redemption. It could be as easy as the cashier asking if you would like to use them. This is a new process for all of us, so it might take some time before everything is completely clear.

To sign up to get your card, you can do so in the store at the register, or online here.

So if you see points in the match ups, that is the amount of points that will be applied to your card with the purchase of that item.  These can add up and get us some great rewards!

It is going to take a little while to adjust, but I’m thinking this could be a great thing for us who frequent Walgreen’s at least a couple times a month!

Be sure you check out the Walgreens Weekly Ad Coupon Match ups before you head to the store so you can see all the great buys with the new Rewards Program!

I am an employee of Walgreens and I would like to add a little information to your post. Something you should all know is that the register reward program will eventually be replaced. They have been phasing it out little by little. Also one thing with the bonus points is that they will not roll. If you redeem points in a transaction trying to purchase items that give points you will not get the points for that item. Right now there is no way to track if you have already received the bonus points for an item during the same week. But they are working on a way to track it so you are only allowed to gain points one time per item per week. At the moment if you buy an item that has a limit of 3 if you purchase all three in the same transaction you will only be rewarded points for one of them. I am not sure if that will change in the future. If at any time you return an item that you received points on, the points will be deducted from your card even if you have a zero balance. I hope this helps and if you have anymore questions just ask any manager in the stores.

As per usual, all good things come to an end.
