Rite Aid
just released a statement on that says there will be some changes to the +UP program.

Here is what Rite Aid had to say about the changes:

“To offer even more value and convenience, we’re excited to announce the chainwide rollout of our Load2Card +UP feature! All of your +UPs will now be automatically loaded to your wellness+ card – no more having to keep track of your paper receipts! If you prefer, you’ll still have the option to receive +UPs on your register receipts rather than having them loaded to your wellness+ card.

This will officially go into effect on Sunday, Sept. 2, at all Rite Aid Pharmacy locations. If you have any questions, check out our Load2Card +UP FAQs: http://bit.ly/P0S9uM

I for one, am not thrilled about this because in the test markets, all of the UPS were coming off automatically before you could use your coupons!

So if you had a $12 shopping trip, $10 in coupons and $5 in UPS, your UPS would come off first and you wouldn’t be able to use your coupons! Unless they have changed that, I for one will be opting out!!

What do you think about this? Like it or not?

I believe I will be opting out as well, it makes me super sad!

Isn’t it wonderful that they’ve even given us the option to opt out?! Everybody wins on this one.

I would think you could also make the cashier wait until after scanning your items and mfr coupons before scanning your reward card? Then you’d still get sale prices and convenience of not having paper +ups, and have the +ups used more on your own terms. Though if you choose paperless, I wonder if they will have a way online to track when your +ups expire, otherwise they might expire before being used which is just as useful as losing the paper receipt…

If you go to the one that says, +UP, on the bottom left side, click, save now. Then hit the load 2 card banner, click Rite Aid coupons (I believe that’s the one, it’s the third one over) and there it will show you all your +UP rewards, along with their on-line coupons. You can click and un-click them to use them when you like (with-in the time frame given).
Also if you wait til after they scan it, I believe it doesn’t take any +UP rewards off. My husband handed the card to the lady after she scanned the item, and he paid full price. We got the +UP rewards, but he didn’t get to use the ones we had in our account that time.

Yes I learned the hard way, that the coupons only work if your balance is more then your +UP rewards and out of pocket expense. I lost quite a bit of +up rewards not knowing this up front. So here’s two tips that have helped me save a bundle (I hope you don’t mind). So far to date, I’ve used over $100 in +up rewards and still have $15 in my account. That’s all in the last month! I just got started last month, and I’m so glad I did!

What I do, if I only have a few items that do not use all my +UP rewards, I go to the Rite Aid web site and un-click the amount I don’t need for that trip (making sure to figure in the coupons; after my trip I go back online and re-active the +UPs) and then I can use all my coupons, and save my extra +UP rewards for next time! Oh and while I’m there I check out their on-line coupons (it still works even if you have the same coupon in hand), that’s doubling your coupon value!
Or(not as good, but still better then not using your coupons) you can choose to buy more products then what you have in +UP rewards but equal to your coupons, that way you will also have more +UP rewards next time, and there by using your +UP rewards, and coupons, but leaving with more stuff, and +UP rewards.
What ever you choose, happy shopping!
